07 Dec Professional Development: A Few Thoughts From Our President, Jeff Russell
I talk to a lot of people daily. When I speak with them about professional development and what they’d like to improve, three consistent topics come up:
- Time management
- Communication skills
- Management skills
These three aspects of business are ones that I think we all could benefit from improving upon. So, in the upcoming weeks, I will be sharing more on these topics to spark ideas, provide inspiration, and share personal experiences and wins.
In the meantime, here is a quote from Benjamin Franklin. A brilliant guy, by the way. He did so many amazing things and had so many great quotes! I definitely recommend checking some of his stuff out.
“I will speak ill of no man and speak all the good I know of everybody. Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain – and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.”
So, when we talk more about communication and management skills, really think about this quote. When managing and communicating with people, there is rarely a time to criticize, condemn, and complain if you want change to occur. It’s all about lifting others up, not breaking them down.
Life is good. – Jeff
