21 Jun Pango Group Values: A Few Thoughts From Our President, Jeff Russell
Last week, I talked a bit about the Pango Group culture, especially related to our mission and vision. So, today I wanted to expand on that and share why culture is so important for any organization.
Let’s start with the fact that developing a company culture is not cheap and takes a lot of time and energy. But, its return is so worth it on every level.
When a company believes in its culture (like, really believes in it!) and lives it and manages it daily, it can positively impact every facet of the organization. This includes recruiting and retaining awesome employees, creating raving fans out of clients, and creating a happy workplace – a place that people actually want to come to and be productive.
Here’s a quick story. We recently hired someone in one of our offices that we had been trying to recruit for over six years – yes, six years! When we asked her why she finally decided to join us, she said she heard from another employee just how wonderful she was treated through tough times.
It really relates to the whole idea of paying it forward. When you inspire others in an organization, those people are inspired to do their job really well and motivate others. And that cycle is pretty amazing.
One way we’ve worked on having an incredible company culture is by living out our values in every interaction we have – with each other, our partners, and within our communities. These values aren’t just words on a whiteboard; they are part of who we are.
These first three values are important, and we feel they should be a given. Our goal is to hire people with knowledge, teamwork, and integrity. If these don’t exist within someone, it’s hard to move onto the others. These next three are values that set us apart from our competition and help us go from great to amazing. Here’s a closer look:
- Forward-thinking: The constant drive to think ahead. In our industry, this is vital. It allows us to look 7, 30, 90, 365 days ahead to better understand the market, economic climate, agent, buyer, and seller needs and make the changes necessary to stay relevant.
- Moxie: It’s that tenacity and spirit that allows us to accomplish a goal. It’s not taking no for an answer. It’s that out-of-the-box thinking to get stuff done.
- Grace and kindness: This is my personal favorite. It ties in with putting people first and treating them in a way that they know just how important they are to us (kindness matters!).
