Today is Independence Day, a celebration of nationhood and the passage of the Declaration of Independence!  

We all have our special ways of celebrating this day, and for me, it’s a time for family, BBQs, fireworks, baseball, and all that good stuff. It is also a time of gratitude – gratitude for being born in this country.

Abraham Lincoln said it best, “I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so his place will be proud of him.”

We can’t dispute that there is a lot going on in America these days. With all of that, I am proud of this nation and all that it stands for and will be focusing my energy not on the things out of my control, but what is in my control – living my life in a way that my place will be proud of me.
