05 Nov It’s Time to Ready Your Home for the Holidays
Where did the year go? Thanksgiving is closing in, and it will be followed closely by the end-of-year holidays. At this time of year, it’s important to ready your home for the holidays. People tend to drop by, you may be hosting parties, and the last thing you want is to be in a panic. Here are some ideas on how to refresh your home and make sure you’re organized and ready to tackle the holidays in stride!
1 Replace Old Bathroom Towels: There’s no need to go overboard on expensive towels, but you should spring for a few new hand towels.
2 Clear Off the Bathroom Counters: Your counters are a haven for clutter, and one of the easiest ways to make your bathroom more inviting is to clear off the counters. Rid them of everything except the soap dispenser and a hand towel.
3 Add Festive Touches: Fill a glass bowl with miniature pumpkins or apples for your mantel with some twinkling lights. You can also use scented pine cones or lightly scented candles (pine, cinnamon or nutmeg) to evoke a sense of the holidays.
4 Ready Your Guest Room: Make space for belongings if you anticipate having holiday guests overnight. Also, leaving toiletries is a nice touch. Describing where things are and showing guests how things work, like the remote control to the TV or the shower, can also go a long way in making them feel more comfortable.
5 Add Hooks In Your Entryway: You may not live in a part of the country where guests will be coming in from the snow, but on those chilly nights, it’s nice to have a designated spot for coats versus a pile on the guest room bed. Adding hooks to your entryway is a great way to give you and your guests a place to hang things up.
